About Gimena
Through abstract and contemplative landscapes, Gimena explores the intimate relationship between memory, territory, and belonging. A self-taught artist and graduate of the IAE Aix-en-Provence, her practice is nourished by her lived experiences, her travels across the world, and the enduring influence of her native Argentina — its monumental Andes mountains, its raw natural expanses, and her intertwined Italian and Spanish roots.
Using texture, gesture, and organic compositions, she develops a meditative visual language centered on the fragility of ecosystems and humanity’s connection to the earth. Themes of fertility, transmission, and the protective maternal figure appear throughout her work as symbols of resilience and continuity.
Her paintings also reflect on immigration and inherited identity, questioning the importance — and fragility — of roots. Suspended between abstraction and landscape, her work invites contemplation and proposes a sensitive dialogue between nature, memory, and preservation.
